Arturo Ezquerro-Cañete

Arturo completed a PhD in International Development Studies form Saint Mary’s University and the Autonomous University of Zacatecas in 2020. For his doctoral degree, he explored issues around land politics and campesino social movements in the context of large-scale GM soybean production in Paraguay. He has numerous publications on related topics of natural resource extraction and resistance in Latin America. Arturo also sits on the Migrant Workers Support Committee for No One Is Illegal - Halifax/Kjipuktuk (NOII-Hfx), a grassroot group that organizes for migrant justice, specifically in solidarity seasonal agricultural workers in Nova Scotia. Prior to moving to Canada, he was the Outreach Coordinator at the Latin American House, which provides a range of welfare, immigration, and workplace support to at risk Latin American migrants in the UK.
