Karen Fish
Karen Fish has strong connections with the Tatamagouche Centre, originally through her volunteer engagement with Breaking the Silence and then through her attendance at many of the Centre’s life-changing and supportive programs. As a 30+ year practitioner of Shambhala buddhism, she also has ties with the neighbouring retreat centre, Dorje Denma Ling. Karen moved to Antigonish, Nova Scotia, from Montreal in 2004 with her husband and son. After decades of living in big cities, she wanted to return to small town living, to be closer to forests and water, to move away from technical and often corporate work, and to find more heart-centered work. The Antigonish area has provided her with teaching, research, facilitation, and writing work in educational and social justice areas, and the land and water continue to soothe and inspire. She volunteers locally with a number of groups, including Syrian-Antigonish Family Embrace, which has brought close to 35 Syrian families to this small town.
