Andrea Curley
Board Member- She/Her
Andrea Curley is Haudenosaunee, Onondaga Nation, Beaver Clan from the Six Nations Grand River Territory. She is a mother of 2 grown sons, each coming well into their own. She earned her Master’s of Education in Administration and Policy from Saint Francis Xavier University while working full-time as the Indigenous Engagement Coordinator at the Coady Institute of StFX. Andrea has established national and international friendships, contributing to her becoming Chief-in-Editor of an Ezine publication, as well as hosting national indigenous talking circles during the pandemic.
She currently serves as the In.Business Atlantic Region Manager at Cape Breton University/Unama’ki College. In this role, Andrea pairs high school students with Indigenous business mentors, plans conferences, and facilitates summer self-employment for high school students. She designs each cohort of the In.Business program based on individual and collective needs, bridging Indigenous business theory and practicum experiences.
Andrea is a member of the ‘Women of First Light’ NS and takes the time to network and build relationships with Indigenous successors. This allows her to share their expertise with coworkers, program participants, and community members. A prime example of this is when she facilitates workshops for ‘Righting Relations’ (a national community) about Haudenosaunee governance. Andrea shows her passion to openly share her heart, cultural values, laughter, talents, and ideals in her other projects. An example of this is her short film “NOW YOU KNOW” about the historical facts of residential schools in Canada.
