Naima Imam Chowdhury

Naima Imam Chowdhury is an expert in Feminist Approach and Leadership, Gender Equality, Intersectionality, and Inclusion; She has global experience working in Asia, Africa, and North America, including Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, and the Congo. Her most recent development and humanitarian policy and programming work includes climate finance, climate change adaptation and mitigation, biodiversity, energy, food security, health, adult education, inclusive economy, women, peace, and security.
Naima remains dedicated to pursuing her passions for the environment, equality, dignity, and justice, which she believes are in line with Tata Center's goals.
Naima Chowdhury was a St. Francis Xavier University program faculty member and the Global Change Leaders program lead at the COADY International Institute. She developed and facilitated education programs in Feminist Leadership, Climate Justice, Building Community Resilience, and Inclusive Economy. She was a guest speaker at the University of Ottawa and the University of Toronto.
Naima has a Master of Science (MSc) in Geography and Environment from Jahangirnagar University and an executive program in International Policy and Practices at McGill University. She is pursuing her Ph.D. in Feminist Leadership in Climate Change at StFX University. She has publications in Feminist economic tools and techniques, modules on SGBV, Economic Empowerment, and Leadership.
Currently, Naima works with the Federal Government's Global Affairs Canada’s Climate Finance initiatives as a Senior Gender Equality Policy Advisor. She is also a Professor at the Humanity and Social Science Faculty at the Centennial Collage, Ontario. She worked for Action Against Hunger, Aga Khan Foundation Canada, ActionAid, CARE International, DANIDA, and SwissContact.
